Beautiful Creatures

As many of you know, my venture away from the YA section didn't turn out so well. So, I'm back!

Yes, YA section, I missed you too! I told you I would be back. What, you didn't believe me? Why would I ever lie to you? We're like besties. [Hugs and kisses] I love you too, YA section.

Anyway, while browsing around the wonderful YA section the other day, I ran across the book Beautiful Creatures. Isn't that cover beautiful! The name, too,...so intriguing! And, again, as many of you know I'm a sucker for book covers and titles. So, of course, I bought it. I'm already three hundred pages in, and all I have to say is ...WOW!!! It's so addicting; I love books like that.

I'll be sure to give you a full review once I finish. The outlook, though, looks very promising.

What, YA section? Why did I ever stray from you? Truthfully....I don't know! I'm sorry. I promise to never do it again.

Has anyone else out there read this book yet? Or, does anyone else, have any good book recommendations? Let me know. I'm always open for good suggestions. But, if it's outside the YA genre, we'll have to keep it Hush, Hush (BTW- that book rocks too!).

Hey! I heard that.

Whatever are you talking about YA section? I didn't say anything. *WINK, WINK*

I saw that, too!

  1. I'm in a book club of varied reading tastes- do you think "Beautiful Creatures" would be appropriate for that?

I think only 25% of us are YA readers.

I've not heard of it- so I'll look forward to reading your review.

  3. Lauren - I've talked with several people who are reading this book, all varying ages, and they all seem to love it. This book is beautifully written and unlike some YA novels, though this group is getting smaller and smaller, is far from dumbed down. Truthfully, the only reason I think it's considered YA is because of the characters ages, sixteen, which all but fades away in the story.

I think this would be a fabulous choice for a book club. Beautiful Creature is a magical (in both sense of the word) story that pretty much has it all: historical routes, mystery, and a beautiful love story that's successfully woven in to tie this masterpiece all together.

I would recommend this book to anyone. Although it's YA, when you read it you definitely don't think YA, you'll just think...WOW!

Hope that helps. Also, I hope to finish the book in a few days, and the review will follow shortly after.

What other YA novels has your book club read?

  4. Krisi - I'll let you know. I'm hoping to finish in a couple of days. It's huge for a YA novel, being nearly 600 pages, however it doesn't seem that long. Maybe because it sucks you in and leaves you wanting more, more, more!

I read a lot of YA, since that's what I write, and if you want any suggestions just let me know.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick is another one of my favorites. I'm planning on doing a review...soon.

  8. I just finished BC today. Words can't describe my love for this book. It is definitely a must read! I plan to write a review...probably later this week. : )

Cover and titles are what draw me in. : )

  9. Krisit - Opps. I just noticed I forgot to put the 'T' in your name. Must have had a case of the "frozen fringers". You know where your hands are so cold they won't move. Or, maybe, I was just having a really blonde moment. At this point...who knows. : )

  10. Thanks for finding me! Good luck on your novel too. (And I LOVE reading YA, by the way. I don't think you should ever try to stay away from reading it again...it's just wrong) Love your doggies! Something about pugs and boxers, huh? My pug, MacGyver, lives with my parents, and hubby and I have the boxer babies. :-)

  11. Kristin - Thanks! I definitely will never make that mistake again...straying from from YA, that is. I agree. It is just wrong.

Boxers and Pugs seem to be a popular choice, or so I've found.

    Have a great day!
