Progress... HA!

I found this video the other day over at Meghan's blog , and it pretty much sums up my feelings about my WIP right now (minus the funniness, of course).

Umm... yeah.

So last week wasn't the best writing week for me. And what that really means is: I didn't write at all last week. Not one single word.

Instead, I fiddled around on YouTube, searched for pictures of hot guys that I would cast as my MCs if my book (yes, the one I haven't worked on all week... hush!) ever gets made into a movie (does that count as working on my WIP? I think it should, right?) and played with my new phone (I got a new Droid Eris and it's like the coolest thing ever!).

YAY me! I'm very productive (if productivity consists of all of those things... well, I'm way ahead of schedule). HA!

All I have to say is: if I'm still writing the same book three years from now... just shoot me. Please.

Well, I think I've rambled enough for today. So I'm off to search for hot boy pictures.
Opps... I mean write. Yeah. That's what I meant. ; )

  1. I think I would prefer not writing at all to re-writing the same friggin query letter for the bazillionth time. Can I borrow your three-year bullet?

  2. Hey bad weeks happen, at least you still did something pertaining to writing. I would have to give you the fact that you still looked for mc's on the internet... any stretch counts!

Maybe you'll have something to write this week!

  3. I LOVE that clip from Family Guy! Love it! I gave myself the day off yesterday and elected to read a book instead...it was nice and refreshing!

  4. I remember seeing that! Haha. So far, the three years part isn't true, and martini is a lot of beer instead.

  5. Okay, missy, GET WRITING!

Also, that clip must be going around, 'cause even my old professor sent it to me! But it's hilarious, yes. And EXACTLY what me and Andy's conversations were like for the past three years, up until about a month ago. o_O

  6. I been in a slump for over a week and I think I may be coming out of it. Although the weather here is really annoying (we have 20" of snow and about 20 more inches are to fall tonight). My kids are not really helping the creativity juices either with their cabin fever. You will get there.
    HAve a good day!

  7. Haha! I was on goodreads the other night and got sucked into a group that one of my students told me to check out. All of the kiddos on there were casting their future MC's which made me try to do the same. Following in the footsteps of 12 year olds. I know... My few minutes of attempting to look for my MC turned into exactly the same thing yours did. HOURS of looking at random hot guys. Not so bad on the eyes, not so good on the MS...

  8. I feel your pain. It seems the thing I do best these days is avoid finishing my ending re-write. Ugh! :)

  9. I haven't written much this week either...I'm in the same boat! It's good to take a bit of a break, right?

    I've been blog addicted...clearly. ;-)

  10. I'm not in a writing mood either. But I think I need to force myself cause then writer's block sets in and that's never good. But I'm easily distracted when my muse lacks inspiration. XD

  11. Ug. Writing slumps are the worst. I was in one for most of December and part of January. What helped me was to start reading some books again (yeah, I totally slacked in that department during that time).

  12. DL - LOL! Querying sucks, too. Probably worse than what I'm going through right now. So, sure, take my bullet. I'll get a new one. : )

Jen - Awww... thanks. I'll keep looking for MC pictures then. It's so much fun! ; )

Summer - I hope you enjoyed your day off. Reading is so much fun!

Kristan - LOL! Okay, okay, I'll get to writing (right after I get finished on Youtube..) : )

Jon - LOL... beer, martini, same thing. I wish you lots of luck!

  13. Christine - Ewww.. cabin fever... yuck! I hope you come out of it soon. We might get snow this week. I wish it would be bad enough to trap me in the house for a few days, but that's doubtful. : )

Tiffany - I love it! So I'm not the only one easily distracted by hot boy goodness!

    Shannon - Good luck!

  14. Kristi - I'm so with you. I'm a totally addicted to blogs! I like to call it 'research'. That's my excuse for everything. Just call it "research" and it's all good! : )

Gavin - Good luck! And if you get tired of your muse send it over my way. : )

Melissa - It's not that I'm really in a writing slump because I can write. I'm sort of in a story slump. I just haven't figured it all out yet. It so sucks! Good luck on your WIP! : )

  18. Eva - I know exactly what you're talking about. But eventually we'll both get done with [insert words we don't say here].

    Or...

We can just stare at hot guy pics all day. Either one will work. : )

  19. Jen - You're so sweet. I'm going to check it out now!

Kelly - Yes! Finally a request! You have just justified my procrastinations. Looking at hot boy pics is now officially "research"! YAY!!!

  20. Hey there Kimberly,

I found you through Lindsey Brooks' blog, "Dangerous with a Pen" and I had to say that I loved that clip of Family Guy. Says it all, doesn't it? Thanks so much for sharing.

Also, I just really appreciate your honesty about where you're at. It's a reminder to me (and others, I'm sure) that we all have days/weeks like that; that I'm not alone...

  21. Erin - It's so nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by.

That video does say it all. Writing is not easy and I'm not afraid to admit to my fair share of struggles.

    It's so worth it though! ; )

    Happy Tuesday!

  22. YEsterday, instead of writing, I spent all my time working on two more blog layouts for my online books...yikes! Up past midnight working with my photo editor.

Ah, well, we have days like this.
