Spring Fever

Okay, so post is totally off the topic of anything reading and writing related, but I just have to share with you what I'm up to. Hope you don't mind!

I know there is still a few months to go before Spring is in full swing, but it seems that I've caught Spring Fever a little early.

Spring is one of my favorite seasons of the year. The air is usually perfect--not too hot and not too cold. The flowers are starting to bloom and the trees are starting to bud. The world is becoming so green (which is one of my favorite colors) and I love it. Not only that, but I'm a dork. I love spring cleaning. It makes me happy for some odd reason. Getting rid of junk and re-organizing is always the highlight of my Spring. Only, this year, along with Spring Fever it seems I've caught another, potentially dangerous, bug.
I have design fever, too! Ekk!

My hubby and I bought our house back in 2004, and since then we have repainted (much to his protest) almost every room in our house. We've decorated (and by "we" I mean "I") every room of this house. We've even made some major decorating renovations, like adding in pretty granite counter tops to our bathrooms and fancy bowl sinks. This is always very fun for me, but not so much for my poor hubby. I'm afraid he didn't know what he was getting himself into when we signed the papers and they handed us the keys.

And now.... I'm tired of the paint. I'm tired of our furniture. I'm just tired.... of everything. So I plan to do something about it this year. A few years ago when we started decorating, we were operating on a more limited budget. Not that we have a huge one now, but we are able to afford a little more than before. So I told my hubby this weekend that this year we are going to re-decorate the entire house!

And he screamed with joy! Okay, more like moaned and started weeping. I like to imagine he was excited as I, though, so I'm sticking with screamed with joy! Of course, before I start re-designing my whole house, I needed to take a trip to the best store in the world! to get a few ideas (and, arguably, the place I will spend all of my money at this year).

So I went to Ikea.

Sigh. That store is like heaven. I got tons of ideas and found tons of things I wanted to buy.

And now, I want to share pretty pictures with you now. They make me so happy just looking at them.
I want my bedroom to be as pretty as this.

I want my office to have endless bookshelves like this.

Okay, so my kitchen will never look like this, but it doesn't hurt to dream right?

This will be my office--only, not so white and with more bookshelves.

I just love this store! And I can't wait to get busy. Does any body else ever get the urge to paint or redecorate? Or are you a nerd like me who actually loves Spring Cleaning? Please, share your Spring rituals with us!

Have a great day!

  1. Would you be open to me moving in with you to help you work on this design. Only in turn if I can spend some time in your office/library area :)

  2. I love Ikea! The only thing preventing me from going design crazy in my house is budget. Stupid money!

  3. I'm one of those rare females who isn't into decorating. I'd rather write. Of course, if someone was to come over and do it for me, I certainly wouldn't complain. ;)

I want that bedroom too. :D

  4. I love redecorating! Hubs and I have been making our way around the house painting every room!

These pictures are gorgeous...my home will NEVER look like that. *sigh*

  5. I'm re-decorating too. I'm in the middle of a kitchen renovation. Doesn't look like that though. Money, always getting in the way.
    Anyway, have fun.

  6. I do like spring cleaning. In fact, I kinda like cleaning at any point, but spring really is magical. The garden is starting to come back to life, you can finally open the windows again...ahhhh.

And for us Southern ladies, we're sick and tired of the COLD (40 degree) weather. Time to put on a tanktop and boardshorts and get to work.

    *checks calendar*
    *sighs*

  7. Spring? Did somebody say Spring? We have over two feet of snow on the ground, with 6-12 inches predicted tonight. I'd like to redecorate my yard with flowers, but I think that's a long way off!

  8. Hilarious. I forward this to my husband so he wouldn't think I was alone in my mania.

  9. I love Ikea. I actually make a lot of my stuff myself by renovating and revamping old items I have or buying cheap old ones.

  12. Ooh....I love those pretty pictures!

We did a lot of work on our place last year and plan to get back to it very soon. It's something we both like to do, but get sick of after a while. It's definitely best to work one room at a time.

I did my spring cleaning in October! Have fun....:) I have major spring fever as well. It's really bad this year!

  15. Before going to Ikea, I need someone to take all forms of payment away or I'll lose control! I love that place!

  16. We don't have an Ikea near us, but in the UK we did, and we LOVED it. Such great stuff, and not overwhelmingly expensive. Those rooms are beautiful! How fun to redecorate!

  17. I'm not really a decorator, although I must admit to a weakness for home design magazines and Crate and Barrel! (I rarely act on the ideas I get, but like you I love to dream.)

  18. I LOVE going through redecorating phases. I like walking around Ikea, it's fun, but I rarely buy anything there.

You are mean to brag of this warm weather and green things sprouting! We have a foot of snow and yet another day of grey skies. It's winter in the extreme here. I'm SO over it. *sigh* And I'm green with envy for your sprouting plant.

    Hugs,
    Lola
